I can do look-a-likely with a greatcoat, my only conern is melting whilst playing in one.

However, I have a russian helmet and a russian rifle,... it's a good base lol

I don't think you will melt in a greatcoat. Its 8 degrees down there and you won't be running around like a loon (but you will be walking miles!). However for greatcoat wearers the degree of meltingness will depend a good deal on undergarments and how 'warm' you naturally are. I'd say for Germans if you are wearing thermal vest & pants, shirt, wool jacket & trousers & greatcoat unless you are on guard duty for two hours or you are particularly 'cold bloodied' you will melt. It is cavernous and damp down there so personally I'll swing towards warm and cosy but having been there three times now all I'd say is that in normal civvies jeans, top and jacket I didn't feel cold at any time.

Well, Alex replied to my email!

Peter, emailed Richard earlier today.
All your order will be sent within January.
Regards, Alex.

I've politely pointed out that "within January" is a bit vague at best! Not really much cop if the order rocks up on the 25th!

Hmm. Looks like he's telling porkies then. How did you send payment Rich? I think it's worth at least finding out if it's possible to get it back. If only to put the frighteners on Alex, who's turned out to be a liar at best, a lying thief at worst.

I paid by bank transfer. I'll need to check what sort of comeback we have in that regard.

I've emailed him again with a sterner warning and told him I'm not happy about his lying to you. Just have to wait and see what, if anything comes back.

Bank transfer? Almost no rights whatsoever.

I'd have thought "non delivery of goods" or a "breach of contract" type thing would be the one. Not sure how that would apply in the Ukraine though!

I think this situation makes the strongest argument for only dealing in paypal or credit cards that I've seen yet, when buying from abroad.

And there's the rub. UK consumer law is just for the UK.

It'll turn up, I have no doubt of it, just whether it's in time or not is the issue at stake.

Had a reply to my snotty email

Peter,

80% of the order will be sent this week, we will email the scanned postal receipt to Richard. Thenk you for your patience.

Regards, Alex.

I reckon we're going to struggle getting it on time. Never mind, lesson learned. We'll manage fine with the Shinels and everyones' sense of community.

for fecks sake, he's just put a blight on this game before it's even started. We can all borrow kit an that so it's not the end of the world.

What a fecking liar, shame we can't just get our money back off him. There are guys on the 2ns guards reenactment forums saying he's said he's sent their stuff back in august and they're still waiting. I don't think well get it before June.

With any luck, it'll arrive before the next Russian Front event.

Edit - I don't think it will "blight" the event at all anyway. Uniforms and weapons are just "tools" at the end of the day, a means to an end. It's nice to have the "correct" stuff but by no means necessary.

Yeah I think everyone will be sorted for some sort of look-a-like kit... and that's the main thing!

It will be a damn shame not to have everyone kitted out as they'd like to be but it isn't the end of the world. Even with what I have now I think we have enough to give everyone at least something passable to wear. With the remaining greatcoats or if by some mircle some FoR stuff does show up there will be plenty for everyone.

Apologese Pete, perhaps Blight wasn't the correct word, I don't mean to say that the game won't be any good because of it, as I'm still looking forward to it 8) , perhaps "over-shadowed" would have been better. But like we're saying, theres a way around everything :D

its the 1st russain front game, so im not too downhearted, it can only get better, :good:

as time goes by, people will find better supplyers and get a better standard of kit

just haveing an eastern front scenario is great,

and above all the players make the day as much as the kit and the event

im getting really excited now, just over two weeks to go :happyswing:
